I want to share with you some things we're going to see happening spiritually this season, starting in 2017. This is such a significant time that we’re in. I know I’ve said that before, but dramatic changes are now really beginning to unfold.

So much is playing out on the world’s stage right now. Previously prophesied major shifting continues to take place and systems of the world are being shaken to their very core. A year ago, at the start of 2016 I took the Scripture from Isaiah 45 and shared how God was raising up leaders like King Cyrus to set God's people free from captivity. Cyrus was anointed by God to not only do that, but to enable the people to rebuild the city of God and His dwelling place, the Temple.

The time we are in now is a time for building. With that in mind, I’m going to share four things the Lord has shown me for this year that require a response from you, and it’s important to understand that the decisions you make this year will impact your life and the lives of those around you.

The first thing the Lord showed me for 2017 is this:

Know what your core purpose is and what you are to focus on at this time.

If the enemy cannot intimidate you, he will try and distract you from your true calling by getting you worn out or focussed on the wrong things.

This is the time to build. So we need to know what we’re building, where we’re building and who we are building with. This means re-evaluating what you are doing and then getting on with it.

If the enemy cannot intimidate you, he will try and distract you from your true calling by getting you worn out or focussed on the wrong things. Make it your goal this year to really find out what you should focus on. The enemy has been trying to distract you from your current assignments by offering you opportunities that seem good but are actually a distraction.

What the Lord has shown me, and I’ve been going through this too, is that even some opportunities that appear to fit with prophetic words or dreams you’ve had in the past, are actually designed by the enemy to trip you up and to hold you back, so watch out for those at this time.

Reassess what you’re spending your time on, and lay down those things that have been part of the previous season but now need to come to an end. Focus your energy and your life on assignments that have been ordained by God for this new season.

Remember King David? In Psalm 139 he shares how all the days ordained for us are written down in a book or a scroll in heaven. My prayer is that this year you will begin to see your scroll unfold, that you will know God’s assignment for this season, and that by faith, you will step into all that God has planned for you at this time.

I pray for wisdom to implement those plans and to know what to lay down, what to pick up and who to work with, as you cannot achieve your purpose alone.

Now, onto the second thing the Lord showed me for this year:

Going lower to go higher!

There is a move of God happening right now where the Holy Spirit is moving in people’s hearts to such an extent that they will be willing to give up everything to follow Jesus.

Are you willing to surrender all your plans, all your dreams, all you’ve ever worked for, all of what makes you happy and lay it all down? Then as you begin to let go of these things and surrender fully to Jesus, that’s when you will really begin to live a life of freedom and move in power and authority as the Lord has promised.

Jesus entered the wilderness full of the Holy Spirit, and after a time of testing and submitting His will to Father God’s will, He came out of the wilderness and the time of testing in the power of the Holy Spirit.

You may have been telling the Lord that you want to give your whole life to Him, but then come times of testing, dry, barren times, times of trouble. And you wonder why things haven’t worked out as well as you thought. You tried to follow the Holy Spirit and do the right thing, but it turns out He’s led you into the wilderness! A time of lack and testing follows. Just like Jesus. He was full of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit led him into the wilderness. But what happened with Him? He was not overcome by the enemy. He stood His ground and was obedient to Father God. He laid down His own will and proved what He’d said: Not my will Father, but yours be done. He passed the tests and listen to this, he came out of the wilderness in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Rob and I are releasing a book this year that goes into this in more detail, so look out for that as I think it will really help you!

I believe we are going to see many people in this season emerge from wilderness experiences, and times of testing, proving that they are willing to give up everything to follow Jesus. And because of this we will see many moving in increased levels of power this year as they submit and surrender all to Jesus.

Thirdly, the Lord showed me that He is commissioning many this year with an Apostolic commission.

Like the Angel of the Lord commissioned Gideon as he came up out of his hidden place.
He said, ‘Go, mighty warrior! Am I not sending you? That word send is the equivalent to the New Testament word for apostolic sending and commissioning that we see in Romans Chapter 10.

This Scripture is pertinent to this time:

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

That word saved means healing, salvation and freedom. It also means safe.

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching or proclaiming it to them? And how can anyone proclaim unless they are sent?”

That word ‘sent’ is the apostolic commissioning that is going on right now.

The Gideons, the Josephs, the Davids, the Lydias, the Pauls, the Daniels, the Joshuas: the sons of God are being raised up at this time, no matter who you relate to in the Bible, it is your time! The Lord is reaching out and gathering in and He is commissioning labourers to bring in the harvest. Do whatever He puts on your heart. It’s probably going to look different from what’s gone before. The fire will burn stronger and stronger until you are willing to give up everything to follow Him and fulfil your purpose wholeheartedly.

Fourthly: Do not shrink back

Hebrews 10 says this:
“Do not throw away your confidence (that word also means boldness and courage); it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.” But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.”

So to summarise:

This year, make it your goal to know your purpose, get into the right place with the right people and be focussed on this season’s assignment.

Surrender your own will, lay down your life, and be filled with the Holy Spirit and with power.

So that the Lord can send you with an apostolic commission to be a key part of this exciting move of God.

Do not shrink back, but be full of courage.

In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Go for it!
